Networking Jargon

Networking jargon you may not know:

  • Card-flipping- the mutual business card exchange that occurs at most networking events.  Typically this process leads to nothing but wasted trees.
  • Troller- the professional network event attendee that figures if he or she just meets enough people, they will make a sale.  The blind squirrel eventually finds an acorn too.
  • Buttinski- person at a networking event that jumps into your group’s conversation so they don’t have to drink alone.
  • Ice pick in the eye – what most business owners would rather do than attend a networking meeting.
  • Copier salesman- generic term for transactional salespeople that frequent networking events.
